49ers suffer pair of serious injuries at Monday’s practice

The San Francisco 49ers suffer a pair of season-ending injuries during Monday’s practice.

Injuries absolutely ravaged the San Francisco 49ers last year, and they have once again return to this NFC-contending football team in the aftermath of Monday’s practice.

According to Matt Barrows of The Athletic, offensive tackle Justin Skule tore his ACL and strong safety Tarvarius Moore tore his Achilles on Monday. While Skule was filling in for Trent Williams and Moore for Jaquiski Tartt, you never want to see the depth of your football team depleted before you even get to training camp. San Francisco has to be healthy to contend this season.

What do these pair of injuries mean for the 49ers heading into the upcoming 2021 NFL season?

San Francisco 49ers suffer two major injuries during Monday’s practice

As painful as it may sound, injuries have become synonymous with the John Lynch/Kyle Shanahan era of 49ers football. When the team is healthy, San Francisco is among the very best teams in football. However, so many of their best players get hurt all the time, and San Francisco then finds itself in the basement of the NFC West. That absolutely cannot happen in back-to-back seasons.

Ultimately, San Francisco will be able to survive this, as this is not a massive injury to stars like Joey Bosa or George Kittle. However, the margin for error in the NFC West this year is razor thin. All four rival teams will be battling for playoff positioning, but we should not expect all three NFC Wild Card teams to come out of this division. Somebody is going to end up disappointing this fall.

Football is a game of injury, but the 49ers have to do whatever it takes to stay healthy this year.
