Bashaud Breeland says goodbye to Chiefs after signing with Vikings

After two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, cornerback Bashaud Breeland tweeted farewell to the fans having signed with the Minnesota Vikings.

A goodbye, and a fond farewell.

For cornerback Bashaud Breeland, that was the order of business on Friday after signing a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings worth up to $4 million. Breeland, who spent his previous two seasons with the Chiefs, tweeted out his thoughts on the organization before departing.

At 29 years old, Breeland is one of the more underrated corners in the game. While he’s never made All-Pro or even been to the Pro Bowl, he has consistently been a solid performer whether with the Washington Football Team, Green Bay Packers or Kansas City.

During his time with the Chiefs, Breeland helped the team reach and win its first Super Bowl in 50 years, highlighted by notching an interception in the second quarter off San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Breeland has long been in search of the long-term deal that narrowly eluded him after his rookie pact expired in Washington. After the 2017 season, Breeland signed with the Carolina Panthers on a three-year, $24 million deal with $11 million guaranteed, but the deal was voided when he failed a physical due to an infected foot as a result from a cut he sustained on vacation.

Since then, Breeland has played on a quartet of one-year deals, first with Green Bay, then two with the Chiefs and now one with Minnesota.
