Minnesota Vikings rookie Jaylen Twyman is expected to make a full recovery after being shot four times.

NFL rookie Jaylen Twyman was shot four times while visiting his aunt in Washington, D.C., on Monday. The Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle was sitting in his car when the tragic shooting occurred.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Twyman’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, says it was simply a case of “wrong place, wrong time.” The Vikings have been notified of the shooting and Twyman’s status.

As scary as this situation was, it could have been much worse. Rosenhaus said there were superficial exit wounds, but Twyman’s X-rays came back negative. He will not require surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

It remains unclear how the wounds will affect Twyman’s preparation for his first season in the NFL, or whether the former Pittsburgh Panthers standout will be available when the Vikings’ training camp starts in late July. But the most important news is his wounds were superficial and he should make a full return in due course.

Twyman was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 199th overall.

We wish Twyman and his family all the best for a speedy recovery.
