Today’s MLB DFS Playbook: Lineup picks, value sleepers for Wednesday daily fantasy baseball contests on FanDuel, DraftKings, Yahoo

Sports

Wednesday night’s MLB DFS main slate is consistent across the board, as DraftKings, Yahoo, and FanDuel will all be using a nine-game slate starting at 7:05 p.m. ET. We do have one major weather concern, as the Nationals-Orioles likely to see rain at some (if it’s even played), so make sure to keep an eye on the MLB weather center. That game being a weather issue is a bit unfortunate, as it features a tomato can pitcher in Patrick Corbin, who we love to stack and/or find value sleepers against.

Today’s MLB DFS Playbook: Lineup picks, tips for Wednesday

SP Jordan Montgomery, Yankees (@ Rays). Monty has been great this year and, more specifically, great lately. He has scored at least 16.7 DK points in five straight with three games north of 20. He comes into this one with a 2.73 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 56 strikeouts across 72.2 innings. Today he faces the Rays, who are 23rd in runs per game while also having the 10th-highest strikeout rate in the league (fourth highest over the past 14 days).

SP Carlos Rodon, Giants (@ Braves). Rodon is the top DFS scorer on the slate, averaging 21.1 DK points per game. He scored 30.5 and 35.6 points in his past two starts, respectively, while not giving up a run over his past 14 innings. Overall, he has a 2.84 ERA with 91 Ks across 73 innings. The Braves are a tough matchup, but they do have the second-highest strikeout rate and that’s something Rodon can definitely take advantage of.

C Tyler Heineman, Pirates (vs. Cubs). Heineman has not played well, but the Pirates offense is heating up a whole and he could be worth a gamble at nearly the minimum price. I would lean Adley Rutschman as my top play behind the dish today, but that Orioles-Nationals game is in danger of being postponed.

1B Juan Yepez, Cardinals (@ Brewers). Yepez is slashing .310/.333/.552 with two home runs and six RBIs over his past 10 games. Overall, he’s hitting .276 on the year with six dingers in 134 at-bats. He has been slightly better on the road, slashing .282/.338/.479, compared to .270/.324/.444 at home.

2B Andres Gimenez, Guardians (@ Twins). Gimenez had two hits with a steal last night and is now hitting .309 on the year with seven home runs, five steals, and 55 total runs and RBIs across 53 games. He has only faced Sonny Gray four times, but he has two hits with a home run against him.

3B Nolan Arenado, Cardinals (@ Brewers). Arenado has three multi-hit games and two home runs in his past five games. He is hitting .274 on the year with 13 bombs and 77 total runs and RBIs across 66 games. Eric Lauer has been getting hit around lately, and 12 of the 14 home runs he has given up have been to righties.

SS Javier Baez, Tigers (@ Red Sox). Don’t look now, but Baez is swinging a very hot bat all of a sudden, scoring 16, 17, 10, and 27 DK points in his past four games, respectively, thanks to two home runs, a triple, two doubles, and a pair of stolen bases.

OF Mike Trout, Angels (vs. Royals). I usually target Trout more against righties than lefties, but when a guy has eight home runs in the past 11 games, he’s hard to ignore. He’s also been far better at home this season, slashing .351/.448/.737, compared to .216/.320/.468 on the road.

MORE PICKS: SP Shohei Ohtani, Angels (vs. Royals); C Willson Contreras, Cubs (@ Pirates); 1B Ty France, Mariners (@ A’s); 2B Trevor Story, Red Sox (vs. Tigers); 3B Kody Clemens, Tigers (@ Red Sox); SS Willy Adames, Brewers (vs. Cardinals); OF Alex Kirilloff, Twins (vs. Guardians)
