The Rebels are one win away from winning their first collegiate baseball title in program history.

Ole Miss opened the College World Series final with a resounding 10-2 win against Oklahoma on Saturday. The Rebels led only 4-2 heading into the eighth inning, but opened up their lead with three home runs in the top half of the inning and two more runs scored in the top of the ninth to pull away.

Looking to end the series in two games, Ole Miss will send out ace Hunter Elliott to start Game 2. The freshman has posted a 2.70 ERA with 96 strikeouts in 73 1/3 innings of work. The Sooners will start Cade Horton, who has a 5.24 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 46 1/3 innings. Horton is coming off three straight starts of at least six innings with two runs allowed in each against Florida, Virginia Tech and Notre Dame.

Should Oklahoma win, there will be a Game 3 at 7 p.m. ET on Monday to decide the 2022 College World Series champion.

College World Series live updates, highlights from Game 2

(All times Eastern)

4:39 p.m.: Pettis strikes out swinging, but the ball gets away from the catcher, allowing Pettis to run for first. The throw to first was high as Pettis reaches. Runners on the corners now with Spikerman coming up. Derek Diamond and John Gaddis are getting loose in the Ole Miss bullpen with Elliott now at 78 pitches.

4:36 p.m.: Muniz lays down the sacrifice bunt to move Nicklaus up to second with one away. Pettis, then the top of the order for the Sooners coming up.

4:33 p.m.: The first pitch of the sixth inning drills Nicklaus to give the Sooners a leadoff baserunner.

4:31 p.m.: McCants goes down swinging to end the inning.

4:30 p.m.: Tredaway makes the catch on the flyout to center by Dunhurst while fighting the sun. Two away.

4:29 p.m.: Horton is up to eight strikeouts now as he fans Chatagnier to begin the bottom of the fifth.

4:25 p.m.: Clark flies out to McCants in shallow center field.

4:24 p.m.: The call is confirmed. Elko stayed on for the out.

4:22 p.m.: Great play by Chatagnier as he ranges to his left, spins in shallow right field and throws it accurately to Elko at first to get Crooks. Oklahoma is challenging whether Elko kept his foot on the base.

4:20 p.m.: Tredaway flies out to Harris in right for the first out.

4:17 p.m.: Harris grounds one to Peyton Graham, who steps on second for the force out to end the fourth.

4:14 p.m.: Alderman comes up empty on three straight pitches, striking out on a 97 mph fastball upstairs. Harris now stands between Horton and getting out of danger.

4:13 p.m.: Pitch up-and-in from Horton hits the elbow pad of Kevin Graham to give Alderman a chance to bat with runners on first and second and only one away.

4:10 p.m.: After an 11-pitch battle, Horton catches Elko looking.

4:04 p.m.: Gonzalez rips a liner into right to give the Rebels their first hit of the game with an exit velocity of 108.9 mph.

4:01 p.m.: Elliott catches Robertson looking at strike three to set the Sooners down in order.

3:58 p.m.: Peyton Graham hits a hard line drive out to left, but it is right to Kevin Graham for the second out.

3:57 p.m.: Spikerman starts out the fourth with a groundout to second.

3:54 p.m.: Bench flies out to left as the Rebels go down 1-2-3 in the third. Scoreless through three innings.

3:52 p.m.: TJ McCants lifts a fly ball to center field, but Tredaway has enough space to make the play in front of the warning track.

3:51 p.m.: Hayden Dunhurst rolls the first pitch he sees to Robertson at first, and he flips on to Horton covering the bag for the first out.

3:48 p.m.: Pettis is picked off as Ole Miss goes Elliott to Elko to Chatagnier to end the inning.

3:46 p.m.: Kendall Pettis works a two-out walk to give the Sooners a baserunner with the top of the order coming up. Spikerman due up.

3:43 p.m.: Another strikeout for Elliott, who gets Diego Muniz to swing at a breaking ball down and away.

3:42 p.m.: Nicklaus strikes out to start the top of the third.

3:38 p.m.: The leadoff single was the only time that half-inning the Rebels put the ball in play against Horton. Peyton Chatagnier strikes out swinging to keep this game scoreless through two.

3:35 p.m.: Back-to-back strikeouts for Horton as Calvin Harris is also set down swinging.

3:34 p.m.: Horton gets Kemp Alderman swinging for the first out of the second.

3:31 p.m.: Kevin Graham gives the Rebels their first baserunner of the game. He sends a hard grounder to the hole on the right side of the infield that deflects off the glove of first baseman Robertson and by second baseman Jackson Nicklaus.

3:28 p.m.: Wallace Clark goes down swinging to end the top of the second.

3:26 p.m.: Quick out for Jimmy Brooks, who rolls one to shortstop for the groundout.

3:25 p.m.: Hunter Elliott gets Tanner Tredaway to fly out to right for the first out of the inning. 

3:22 p.m.: Horton fans another as Tim Elko goes down swinging. Scoreless after one.

3:20 p.m.: Jacob Gonzalez swings and misses at a hard slider for the second out.

3:18 p.m.: Justin Bench comes up hacking at the first pitch from Cade Horton and pops it up to the shortstop in shallow left field for the first out of the inning.

3:16 p.m.: Blake Robertson grounds into a 4-6-3 double play to end the top of the first.

3:13 p.m.: Graham is called out looking at strikes.

3:11 p.m.: Spikerman singles up the middle to give the Sooners a runner on first for Peyton Graham.

3:10 p.m.: First pitch of the game is a strike to John Spikerman, and this game is underway.

3 p.m.: The second game of the College World Series final is moments away.
