The 2022/23 FA Cup has the potential to throw up a few more surprises with this season’s competition already producing some sensational Premier League giant-killings.
Aston Villa’s Third Round exit — at the hands of EFL League Two side Stevenage — triggered a string of wild results, as top-flight sides Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, Leicester City, and Tottenham were all knocked out by lower league opposition.
The biggest shock in the Round of 16 was fourth-tier Grimsby Town beating Southampton, to book a quarter-final spot, while the other results guaranteed at least one second-tier side will reach the semi finals. Meanwhile, both Manchester clubs are also still in the mix.
With the quarter finals next up on the agenda, The Sporting News looks ahead to the semi final draw with everything you need to know.

Are there FA Cup quarter final replays?
The quarter-final round of the 2022/23 FA Cup does not include replays. The previous round (Round of 16) was the first stage of this season’s tournament that did not come with replays for matches that concluded in a draw after 90 minutes.
In lieu of a replay, if teams are drawn after 90 minutes, they will play 30 minutes of extra time, followed by a penalty shootout, if necessary.
Replays have slowly been phased out of the FA Cup. The English FA scrapped replays in the final in 1998/99, then one year later it did away with semi-final replays.
It took a few years for the quarter-final replays to be erased (2016/17), and the Fifth Round (Round of 16) was the latest round to change in 2018/19.
