England’s bid to book their spot at Euro 2024 begins with a tricky test to the reigning tournament champions in Italy.

Gareth Southgate’s men suffered heartbreak in the Euro 2020 final as Italy beat them on penalties in front of their home crowd at Wembley and the pair have been drawn in Group C, along with North Macedonia, Ukraine and Malta.

With the top two from each group securing their spot at next summer’s tournament in Germany, both of today’s teams will be among the favourites to progress and an early triumph in the opener will stand the winner in good stead.

He leads the line tonight and scoring in the former home of Diego Maradona will be something special if he manages that feat tonight.

PSG duo Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marco Verratti will play a key role, although Federico Chiesa is a doubt due to tendinitis issues.
