When is the first college football game in 2023? Full Week 0 schedule for FBS teams

Sports

College football is all but upon us, with Notre Dame and USC playing against Navy and San Jose State, respectively, in an aperitif before things kick off for real. Navy and Notre Dame will played at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, continuing college football’s international series in Week 0.

Week 0 has become a college football tradition of sorts, and outside of Notre Dame and USC, San Diego State also opens the year as a member of the Mountain West for the foreseeable future.

Defending Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams begins his defense of college football’s most prestigious individual honor, and Notre Dame is expecting big things from Wake Forest transfer Sam Hartman.

While there aren’t any true Power Five matchups on the Week 0 slate, there are some solid litmus tests for teams hoping to be serious playoff contenders this year. USC’s most recent game was a disappointing Cotton Bowl loss to Tulane (albeit without Jordan Addison), so the Trojans will be looking to bounce back against San Jose State.
